Slag Management

Thanks to the fact that slag is produced by many metallurgical activities, it is important that slag management is right at the front of our minds if we work in that kind of industry. It is vital that we understand how to deal with this correctly, as it can be damaging to the environment if we don’t.

Slag can be used for:

– Materials used to construct roads, most notably in tar.

– Materials that are used in the landscaping industry.

– Farming. There are some aspects of slag that have great properties when added to fertiliser.

When you consider just how damaging landfill can be to the environment, it makes sense that we should be trying to avoid adding slag to it as far as possible. With this in mind, slag management really is key, as it gives us a chance to use it for something that will make a positive difference, rather than simply dumping it. This is likely to have a great effect in the future, and should mean that slag waste is kept to a minimum.
